January 2025:
We are thrilled to welcome two new (old) members to KIT's AG Mayer who were previously in the Tübingen team. Theresa Kagermeier, who will be joining us as a Post-Doctoral Researcher, and Zeynep Yentur, who will be pursuing her PhD with us. We look forward to the exciting new perspectives and innovative ideas they will continue bringing to the team.

December 2024:
New MRI study from our research team PCH2cure shows that both cerebellum and supratentorial structures, such as the neocortex, are diminished in size at birth in pontocerebellar hypoplasia, mimicking early neurodevelopmental abnormalities found in our brain organoid models of cerebellum and neocortex.

Following the initiative of Mayer lab PhD students Kseniia Sarieva, Theresa Kagermeier, and Zeynep Yentür in Tübingen, together with Dr. Lena Kutscher (DKFZ), I have organized the first conference bringing together researchers studying cerebellar development and disease. Welcome to two new PhD students, Daria Andreeva and Lizia Branco, in the group. Both are part of the excellence cluster 3DMM2O.

The lab is starting at KIT – excited about this new era of Mayer Lab. In addition to Zoology, we are affiliated with the Institute of Biological and Chemical Systems – Functional Molecular Systems (IBCS-FMS).
